maisy kathleen

my good friend had her first baby last week! it was so amazing to see her fight through an uncomfortable pregnancy and to finally deliver this beautiful baby girl. you did great katie!
maisy is simply precious and taking her photographs was a pleasure.
i had so much fun with katie and her sister while taking this pictures.
enjoy!

i found this vintage scale  at a estate sale years ago. amazing prop right?

huff family

i don't think i need to write much before you see this picture.
just how sweet is this face?! i love that slight smirk.

and this handsome boy? such a charmer and so good.
he's also a natural in front of the camera. he knew how to pose without me directing him at all.

this little guy on the other hand, was, well, a normal two year old.
he was curious and too busy to look at the camera mostly, but man, when he did!
those blue eyeballs of his! i love!

this family picked a great location and took some great shots.
they were easy to shoot and we got quite a few good family poses:

the evening ended with wendy relaxing on her hubby while the children ran around this field.
what a nice evening it was. this family was a pleasure to photograph. thanks wendy and family!

sarah & nathan's family

so us ladies at church had a service auction.
if you've never been to one, you haven't lived. we used fake money to bid on services that we each offered up. mormon women offering their talents? crazy idea, i know.
anyways, i gave away two photo sessions and sarah was one winner!

look how sweet her little family of four is:
they were such a playful family to shoot and it was a lot of fun.

lila is such a curious little girl who was full of energy. she loved running around this
"meadow" as her momma called it. can you believe that hair? so jealous!

and sweet baby josie was so calm and mellow,
but a new walker, so she was pretty curious herself.

sarah is a super peppy and happy person, which works nicely when you've got to go with the flow of a photo shoot. this was a new location for me and we ran into a couple problems, but we still got some great shots? can you see where lila get her gorgeous hair?

little lila kept making silly faces and i loved this one!

sarah comes from a deaf family, so she signs quite a bit to her children.
this pose was her idea and i love how they turned out!

thanks sarah and nathan for sharing your evening with me!

julie & kevin's family

how cute is this little family?
i'm so lucky to have met julie and kevin, even if it was for a short time.
(that's what military life is all about i guess.)
i got to take their pictures the day before they moved half way across the country to texas.
talk about stressed out?! you can't even tell in these photos though,
they are such an easy going couple and ah-mazing parents!

check out their sweet little boy, thayne, who i taught in church.
he really is so tender-hearted and smart! he was giggling and laughing in most of the photos, but
something about this one spoke to me. like you can see right into his curious little eyes.

and julie, isn't she breath-taking?
i'm going to miss you girl!
she went to culinary school and comes up with the most amazing dishes/ideas.
taste bud heaven!

i had a slightly difficult time with the lighting for their family photo. looking back, i think i should have waited for the sun to set just a tad more behind those trees.

i know thayne is strangling his little sister, leah, just a tad, but you can just feel the love
between these two. so sweet.

i might have gone overboard with the couples shots, but i couldn't help myself with these two...

so happy i got the opportunity to practice on this cute little family.
julie really has been a fun girlfriend.
they really will be missed, but i wish you guys the very best in texas!

katie + matt = maisy

this is katie and matt.
they are having their first baby girl in a couple months,
and boy am i excited.
little maisy is bound to be gorgeous and super talented like her mother.
katie is a singer/songwriter and she does some fabulous hair!

these soon-to-be parents are just glowing with anticipation for the arrival of their baby girl.

i love the picture below. their faces are like, "what are we getting ourselves into?!"

this open field worked as a great backdrop for all this beautiful natural light.
and katie sure worked it, didn't she. gor-geous!

if you can't tell by this picture, matt is going to be an amazing dad. he is so attentive to katie and
just so humble and sweet with his wife. love that about a man!

for this last one, i wanted to try some silhouette work for these beautiful curves.

this was my first photo shoot in aperture setting. i know i have a lot of work to do,
but i think these still came out pretty good- mostly due to my models:)

alexis

this is alexis. she a strong single mother that is new in my church.
i pretty much love her and her 3 rambunctious children. they all crack me up.
when i heard they didn't have ANY family photos, i knew i wanted to shoot some for them.
this is before i decided that i really wanted to dig into photography.
i used the auto setting on my camera and hoped for the best, since i didn't really know how to use my manual settings yet. although they are not super professional, i love looking at these pictures because i love these people. alexis works hard for her family and strives to give them the best she can. you can see it in their faces, that they are a happy family.

malisha and matisha are twins.
and silly sisters if you ask me.
i loved seeing them giggle and wiggle in front of the camera!

and mr. AJ. he's a sweet little man with a lot of curiosity!
he kept wanted to take my camera and take his own pictures:)

i'm grateful for this sweet family who let me take their pictures.
and i'm grateful to be able to watch them grow under a mother who loves them!
